Role Summary:

  • This position is versatile, with responsibilities in both administrative support and patient care. The administrative role involves managing office tasks, clerical duties, and facilitating communication within the nursing unit. The patient care aspect includes assisting with direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Both roles are essential for the smooth operation of the nursing unit and compliance with healthcare policies and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication and Customer Service:
  • Greet and assist patients and visitors with professionalism.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Handle phone inquiries promptly and accurately.
  • Support patient transport and manage personal belongings during admissions and discharges.
  • Utilize communication systems effectively, ensuring timely updates and follow-ups.
  • Order Management:
  • Assist healthcare professionals with the accurate entry and processing of electronic orders.
  • Monitor and communicate new orders and alerts to nursing staff.
  • Ensure timely dispatch of medication orders to the pharmacy.
  • Chart Management:
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient charts, ensuring all documentation is complete.
  • Prepare charts for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Patient Care Duties:
  • Provide compassionate care tailored to the needs of patients across various age groups.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including hygiene, nutrition, and mobility.
  • Monitor vital signs and report any changes to the nursing staff.
  • Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with the nursing team to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (required).
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
