The Night and Weekend Supervisor at the Library West branch provides exceptional public service assistance to members of the University community. This role involves training and supervising full and part-time staff who work nights and weekends, monitoring night and weekend service desk schedules, and handling requests related to user accounts, billing, and access to the Libraries. The successful candidate will possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities- Oversee evening and weekend operations and team members who support Library West services for UF faculty, students, staff, and other community members.
- Directly supervise one full-time and one part-time security assistant, along with other part-time OPS staff hired for special assignments.
- Assist in onboarding, training, daily work tasks, and projects, and performance appraisals.
- Coordinate the use of software applications for daily task and project management.
- Regularly report to the User Services Manager the status of night and weekend operations, tracking operational issues and problems to resolution.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of support staff responsibilities to perform branch tasks in the staff member's absence.
- High School diploma or equivalent and seven years of library or relevant experience.
- Ability to plan and organize effectively, independently, and with a high degree of initiative and detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate information in a variety of accessible methods.
- Flexibility, willingness to adapt and work in a rapidly changing academic environment, and focus on continual professional development.
- Demonstrated experience providing clear and positive direction to team members, and experience with training or supervision of staff or volunteers.
- Skilled at fostering teamwork among others, and ability to interact and collaborate effectively with colleagues and users to accomplish goals.
- Commitment to provision of user-centered service, and engagement with a large and broad user population.
