**Job Summary**
VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in a correctional facility setting. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting medical staff in a fast-paced clinical environment.
**Responsibilities**
- Assist physicians and nurses in a clinical setting, managing patient information and performing various clinical and administrative tasks.
- Administer medications and record daily medication to patients in state-approved facilities, completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by state law.
- Order stock medication on an as-needed basis, not to exceed established maximum inventory levels.
- Reconcile daily medications received from pharmacy against faxed order form.
- Distribute ordered medications to their appropriate storage area, ensuring all stock medications are rotated, and all outdated medications are returned to the pharmacy.
- Coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care.
- Observe patients and document changes in their condition.
- Notify pharmacy of incarcerated individuals transfers or release.
- Seek guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
- Follow federal, state, and agency regulations to protect health and that of others.
- Adhere to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures.
- Gather samples for analysis.
- Respond to emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify needs and report back to the nursing/HCP team for guidance.
- Proficient with CPR and recognizes need to implement.
- Receive re-certification training annually.
- Assist in cleaning, sterilizing, and securing of equipment.
- Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.
- Attend training and meetings as required.
**Requirements**
- High school diploma or relevant qualification.
- A minimum one (1) year experience in emergency or correctional service.
- Must be a certified medical assistant and have completed a medical assistant training program.
- Good understanding of medical and pharmacological terminology.
