Job Summary:

The Student Support Specialist will provide a safe and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves enforcing school rules and discipline policies, supervising students in various settings, and maintaining confidentiality regarding student issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide security for the school building and surrounding campus throughout the school day.
  • Enforce all school rules and discipline policies as contained in the student handbook.
  • Supervise students in hallways, cafeterias, and other settings throughout the school day, and after hours as assigned.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all student issues.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Assist in all emergency procedures as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Appropriate verbal and interpersonal skills for interacting with students, staff, and visitors.
  • Knowledge of general behavior management techniques.
  • Ability to follow a schedule while being flexible enough to respond to any given situation.
  • Ability to remain calm and follow appropriate procedures during emergency situations.
  • Basic record-keeping skills.

Working Conditions:
The employee will regularly stand, walk, talk, and hear. They will occasionally sit or climb. The employee will occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms. The employee will experience occasional lifting or moving up to 100 lbs., such as assisting with a disabled student. The employee will be required to restrain and/or separate students who may be physically aggressive.
