About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Engagement Specialist to join our Crisis Services team at the DuPage County Health Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering quality care and support to individuals experiencing mental health crises in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to individuals in crisis as part of a two-person response team, providing support and guidance to help them navigate challenging situations.
  • Assist in de-escalating clients experiencing mental health crises through engagement and coordination with team members.
  • Establish rapport and build trust with clients, sharing personal experiences and recovery insights to support their well-being.
  • Provide skill-building and case management services to clients with high needs, promoting their recovery and stability.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to client privacy laws, demonstrating sensitivity and understanding of diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience in the behavioral health field, including active participation in the recovery process.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable personal vehicle for work-related travel.
  • Ability to obtain the Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) credential within one year of hire.
