Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at the Dayton, Ohio VAMC. The successful candidate will provide and coordinate medical care for assigned patients, including establishing diagnoses, formulating, and implementing care plans, and providing follow-up care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients to determine the need for further health care.
  • Order diagnostic studies and other special tests as needed.
  • Carry out health promotion, disease prevention, and patient education activities.
  • Order or obtain laboratory specimens.
  • Order ancillary services, such as pharmacy, social services, physical medicine and rehabilitation therapies, prosthetic services, etc.
  • Order VA specialty service consults and initiate requests for non-VA medical care and consults in accordance with VHA and local facility policy and procedures.
  • Order patient care supplies.
  • Write orders for and/or prescribe medications.
  • Perform skin biopsies, assist with laser treatment, and operate photodynamic therapy and UVA/UVB treatment equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • Citizen of the United States.
  • Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE).
  • Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in Dermatology.
Physical Requirements

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required.
