First Student is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing Freightliner chassis Thomas C2 units and Navistar IC units equipped with Cummins 6.7 ISB school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
- Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment issues, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.
- Ensure work orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Assist with mobile emergency services as needed.
- Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed.
- At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.
- Possess a mechanic's tool set.
- Willingness to participate in ASE certification program.
