About the Diesel Mechanic Position

As a Diesel Mechanic with First Student, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our fleet of school buses.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations, to prevent breakdowns and ensure vehicles are road-ready.

  • Diagnosing and repairing complex issues with Freightliner and Navistar chassis, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, and transmissions.

  • Conducting safety inspections and DOT maintenance inspections to ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Assisting with mobile emergency services and responding to breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license required; willingness to obtain CDL while employed - We provide training

  • At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or technical school education.

  • Possess a mechanic's tool set.

  • Willingness to participate in ASE certification program - training, testing, and bonuses provided

  • Subject to DOT drug testing as a safety-sensitive employee.
