Job Overview

Position: After School Care Teacher

We are looking for a dedicated and nurturing individual to fulfill the role of an afterschool care teacher at Midland Christian School. This position is vital in ensuring a secure and supportive atmosphere for students during the hours following regular school sessions.

Reporting Structure

This role reports directly to the After School Care Program Director.

Educational Requirements

High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

Transportation

Reliable transportation is required.

Physical and Mental Demands

The afterschool care teacher is responsible for overseeing the safety of children during activities, which includes engaging in physical tasks such as monitoring play and organizing spaces. Preparedness for emergencies and administering basic first aid when necessary is essential. Mentally, the role requires attentiveness to children's needs and behaviors, multitasking to assist with homework, and coordinating activities while resolving conflicts calmly and integrating Christian values. Emotionally, the position demands empathy, patience, and resilience to support children's emotional growth and maintain positive interactions.

Classification

This is a non-exempt, part-time position typically scheduled Monday through Friday, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, with hours subject to change based on school requirements.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Supervision and Safety: Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times during afterschool hours.
  2. Activity Coordination: Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts that encourage physical, social, and emotional development.
  3. Homework Assistance: Support students in completing homework assignments and provide academic help as needed.
  4. Snack Management: Oversee snack time, ensuring that snacks comply with school policies, including considerations for allergies and dietary restrictions.
  5. Communication: Maintain effective communication with parents, teachers, and school administration regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
  6. Spiritual Guidance: Incorporate Christian values into daily activities and interactions with students, fostering spiritual growth and character development.
  7. Cleanliness: Ensure that the afterschool care area remains clean, organized, and safe at all times.
