Utilize engineering principles to enhance the efficiency of machinery, processes, and departmental financial plans to improve the maintainability, reliability, and availability of equipment, measured through Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) metrics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Planning
- Oversee the planning, assessment, organization, and execution of assigned installation, maintenance, and repair tasks while collaborating with other departments to minimize production downtime and ensure employee safety.
- Implement and maintain the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), specifically utilizing SAP at our facility.
- Manage the maintenance project timeline (including rebuilds, minor OPEX projects, and scheduled downtime) by tracking project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving issues.
- Compile project status reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends, and making recommendations for action.
- Engage with plant managers and supervisors to secure necessary resources for planning and executing maintenance projects.
- Promote asset care and Total Productive Maintenance strategies.
- Lead initiatives for maintenance planning and process enhancements using reliability tools, facilitating root-cause analysis sessions.
- Oversee the predictive maintenance program, including thermal scanning, ultrasonic testing, and vibration monitoring to ensure adherence to established standards.
- Collaborate with members of the Maintenance, Engineering, and Environmental teams to implement Best Maintenance Practices.
- Conduct and lead Failure Mode Equipment Analysis (FMEA) sessions.
- Evaluate predictive maintenance data to confirm that appropriate preventative maintenance tasks are being performed.
- Review engineering specifications and design modifications for process equipment to enhance reliability.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions for maintenance-related losses by working closely with operations and maintenance teams.
- Ensure that Professional Maintenance (PM) tasks are completed promptly and to high-quality standards, collaborating with the maintenance supervisor to develop PMs that enhance reliability.
- Create and maintain standard operating and maintenance procedures, along with work instructions.
- Keep records of plant and individual equipment performance, preparing and maintaining data sheets, wiring diagrams, and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) necessary for the efficient operation of plant equipment.
- Advise on the proper execution and documentation of repair and preventive maintenance activities.
- Analyze and present accurate data from records to prepare reports and statistics in support of ongoing reliability improvements.
- Review all project components for continuity and thoroughness.
- Assist in managing capital projects as needed.
- Maintain ongoing communication with all personnel involved in the project.
- Schedule regular meetings with stakeholders to update them on project status.
- Assess project staffing requirements in coordination with supervisors and managers.
- Utilize staffing charts to monitor progress and keep the project on schedule.
- Manage and supervise project staff.
- Delegate technical supervision for portions of work as necessary, recognizing when assistance is needed to meet deadlines.
Continuously assess the workplace for safety issues and ensure that behavioral safety initiatives are achieved.
- Enforce good housekeeping practices, adhere to plant rules and safety regulations, and support company initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, and Safety Managers to coordinate any proposed changes using the change management system.
- Work with Maintenance and Production Managers regarding OPEX funding.
- Provide input for the maintenance budget.
- Support Autonomous Maintenance by training operators and ensuring that equipment is maintained in optimal condition throughout the facility, as well as providing training for operators and maintenance personnel.
- Proficient understanding of TPM, root cause analysis, predictive and preventive maintenance systems, and visual plant concepts.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Demonstrated capability to plan and organize effectively.
- Robust leadership skills with a strong sense of ownership and results orientation.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing principles (can be acquired on the job).
- Experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Proven analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to achieve goals in a team-oriented environment.
- Technical skills in project management, safety management, CAD, and circuit design (hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical).
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
