Position Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to deliver expert failure analysis and forensic consulting services to a diverse clientele, including insurance and legal sectors. This role involves assessing claims related to injuries, equipment failures, and property damage attributed to mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough failure analysis and forensic investigations within the mechanical engineering domain, adhering to predefined scopes and budgets.
- Examine incidents to determine the origin, failure mechanisms, and root causes, focusing on the implicated mechanical systems.
- Perform inspections of sites, products, and equipment; execute data retrieval and analysis; document conditions; and conduct site surveys using advanced technology.
- Analyze compliance with relevant codes, standards, and technical documentation related to the design and operation of mechanical systems.
- Engage in various analyses, including industrial safety, machinery design failures, and product liability assessments.
- Support investigations related to fire and explosion incidents involving mechanical systems.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
- 2-10+ years of relevant experience, with a solid understanding of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression.
- Experience in Project Management and Field Investigations is highly preferred.
- Exceptional analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication abilities to interact effectively with clients at all levels.
- Proficiency in various software applications, including Microsoft Office and engineering design tools.
- Capability to interpret technical reports, financial documents, and legal materials.
- Ability to produce clear and coherent technical documents and reports.
- Competence in presenting information to diverse audiences.
This role requires a blend of office and fieldwork, including site inspections. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform various physical activities. Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, with potential overtime as needed. Travel may be required up to 25% of the time.
