Position Overview
The College of Sciences at San Diego State University is currently inviting applications for our temporary lecturer pool in the field of Physical and Natural Sciences.
Expertise Sought
We are interested in candidates with a background or experience in various scientific disciplines. Ideal applicants will possess:
- University-level teaching experience or relevant field experience
- Up-to-date knowledge in their subject area
Appointment Details
Temporary positions may be available on either a full-time or part-time basis. Please note that selections from the part-time pool are typically made shortly before the academic term begins, so candidates should be prepared for potential last-minute notifications. The academic calendar includes:
- Fall term: mid-August to late-December
- Spring term: mid-January to mid-May
There may also be opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions. Initial appointments are generally for one semester or one academic year, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and ongoing availability of positions.

Compensation
The initial rank and salary for lecturer positions will be determined based on professional experience and educational qualifications. Most new hires are appointed at the Lecturer A or B rank and are typically placed at the start of the salary range.
