Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a community relations strategy that addresses identified community health needs and supports the hospital's commitment to being a good neighbor and corporate citizen.
  • Work closely with hospital staff, clinicians, and community stakeholders to develop and execute collaborative projects that improve community health status and establish positive relationships with constituent groups.
  • Design and implement initiatives, programs, and events that promote the hospital's community relations goals and objectives.
  • Educate hospital staff on the community relations vision and strategy.
  • Oversee the implementation of the community relations strategy and communicate strategically important information to hospital leadership.
  • Develop and maintain priorities and guidelines for the hospital's involvement in community partnerships.
  • Direct the development of collaborative agreements with community stakeholders.
  • Assess community health and service needs in coordination with the Planning and Business Development Department.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key health and social service agencies, businesses, government bodies, service clubs, faith-based organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Direct the hospital's Good Neighbor Agreement with neighboring civic associations and neighborhood groups.
  • Direct community benefit process on behalf of the hospital by strategically identifying community events to support.
  • Identify key indicators and institute tools for measuring the impact and effectiveness of the community relations strategy.
  • Report annual progress of the community relations strategy to hospital staff and community stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 8-10 years experience in a community or neighborhood-based setting in areas such as health care, social service, or community service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of child health care and community issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and experience.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently with all levels of clinical and administrative leadership within the hospital and with community leaders on complex and confidential projects.
  • Ability to conceptualize at the strategic level, including the design, management, and evaluation of projects.
  • Experience in facilitating the development of collaborative projects with a variety of community stakeholders.
  • Ability to represent the hospital effectively in a variety of settings and with understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures and communities.
  • Experience in grant or proposal writing.
