About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our team at Downtown Emergency Service Center. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide essential services to clients impacted by alcohol or other drug use.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct alcohol and drug screenings, and assessments on selected clients, developing support and treatment plans in collaboration with the client.
  • Facilitate treatment and support groups for clients, as appropriate, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  • Provide substance abuse consultation to housing staff, ensuring a comprehensive approach to client care.
  • Participate in psychiatric consultation, supervision, program meetings, and in-service trainings, staying up-to-date on best practices in the field.
  • Advocate for client access to community resources and services, ensuring continuity of care and client rights are maintained.
  • Comply with the agency's clinical accountability policies and procedures, maintaining accurate and complete clinical records.
Requirements
  • Licensed by the State of Washington as a Substance Use Disorder Professional in good standing.
  • Strong knowledge of recovery and resilience, client partnerships, and client choice, with a focus on balancing protection from harm and personal dignity.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients displaying a wide range of unpleasant and/or bizarre behaviors, communicating and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to work flexible hours as required by program and staffing needs.
