Job Overview

POSITION TITLE: Professional Land Surveyor

LOCATION: City of Farmington

DEPARTMENT: Electric Utility/Engineering

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Regular

SALARY: $49.50 per hour

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Professional Land Surveyor will be responsible for:

  • Adhering to safety protocols and policies as mandated by the Utility.
  • Conducting comprehensive surveying designs for distribution, transmission, and substation projects.
  • Collaborating with Engineers, Estimators, and Contractors to review legal documents and provide recommendations.
  • Overseeing and executing surveys, inspections, and the preparation of specifications.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of survey data and certifying it with the Professional Surveyor's New Mexico seal.
  • Locating property boundaries and conducting design surveys, including topographical assessments.
  • Preparing plan and profile drawings for transmission line projects, which may involve manual data collection and advanced technologies.
  • Developing Requests for Proposals and managing the annual operating budget for the surveying department.
  • Maintaining and upgrading surveying equipment and software.
  • Performing drafting duties related to surveying and preparing legal descriptions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must possess:

  • A valid registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in New Mexico or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of survey equipment and construction techniques.
  • Proficiency in survey and design software, including AutoCAD and Carlson Survey.
  • The ability to work effectively in diverse weather conditions and lift up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The role involves both indoor and outdoor work, with exposure to various weather conditions. The noise level is moderate, and reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
