Maintenance Level I Job Description

The Guidance Center is seeking a skilled Maintenance Level I to join our team of dedicated professionals. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for our staff, clients, and community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular building rounds to identify and address any issues or concerns, reporting variances or safety issues to the Superintendent of Buildings.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry work, as well as custodial tasks and biohazard clean-up response.
  • Assemble furniture and fixtures, set up and take down event spaces as needed, and perform preventive maintenance tasks for HVAC and other building systems.
  • Communicate effectively with outside vendors and contractors to ensure timely completion of specialized work.
  • Support programs and initiatives for partner agencies, tenants, and agency staff, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • A High School diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull/carry up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, squat, bend, and reach repetitively throughout a 7.5 hour shift with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a maintenance or custodial-oriented position, with experience in minor building repairs, including prepping and painting walls, floor care, installing ceiling tiles, maintaining doors and hardware, and furniture/fixture assembly.
  • Commercial experience working with plumbing, electrical, trouble-shooting electronic climate control and lighting systems.
  • Current driver's license with a good driving record and reliable transportation to travel between locations.
  • Ability to work independently and with others, including staff, clients, and community members.
  • Good organizational skills and a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs of our diverse programs and populations.
