Doorways is a dedicated non-profit entity located in Arlington, focused on assisting individuals and families in overcoming challenges related to homelessness, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Our mission is to foster a community where all individuals can live free from violence and have access to secure housing, irrespective of their backgrounds.

Founded in 1978, Doorways has evolved to provide a safe refuge for families in distress. Over the years, we have broadened our services to create customized pathways for adults, youth, and children requiring safety and support, including crisis intervention, counseling, and housing assistance.

Role Summary:

The Senior Court Advocate role at Doorways is centered around offering support and advocacy for survivors of domestic and sexual violence within the Arlington County Courthouse. This position encompasses safety planning, legal guidance, and program oversight. The Senior Court Advocate will engage with a diverse demographic, including women, men, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive safety planning and emotional support to survivors and their families.
  • Guide survivors on available resources and legal avenues.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents and court processes related to protective orders and custody matters.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and judicial officials on behalf of survivors.
  • Establish professional connections with community partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social sciences or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Suite and case management software.
  • Must reside in the DMV area.

Compensation:

The annual salary for this position ranges from $59,000 to $61,000, commensurate with experience and language proficiency. A competitive benefits package is also included.
