Job Title: Surveyor Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Surveyor Engineer to join our team at Sterling Infrastructure, Inc. This is a challenging opportunity for a skilled professional to work on heavy highway construction projects.

Job Summary

The Surveyor Engineer will be responsible for coordinating the activities of a field survey party, performing complex paraprofessional field surveying duties, and ensuring the effective performance, training, and safety of all members of the field survey party.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives.
  • Assign and monitor work, and provide input for evaluation of members of the field survey crew.
  • Instruct and train survey crew in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures.
  • Gather field survey data through use of conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate various types of surveying equipment to measure distances, elevations, and angles.
  • Perform complex surveying and engineering calculations and prepare finished grade sheets, topographic maps, and other survey and engineering reports.
  • Represent the company in project meetings, client meetings, etc.
  • Proactively support and enforce all safety policies and standards and other company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 4 years of survey experience with a heavy civil/highway construction background is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with Trimble and Leica equipment is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Good communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and MS Outlook Exchange.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or Trimble Business Center.
