General Overview

The Sales Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the daily Sales and Marketing functions at Hutchinson Industries, Inc. This position involves collaborating with customers and various departments, including Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Production, to ensure seamless operations and effectively promote Hutchinson's offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, promptly reporting any hazardous situations or incidents.
  • Provide support to the Sales and Marketing teams as needed.
  • Manage and nurture both new and existing customer accounts as designated by management.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Team to foster positive relationships with customers.
  • Assist customers with product details, pricing, order status, and new contract opportunities.
  • Accurately handle internal and external customer transactions, including orders, inquiries, and quotes, serving as the primary contact when necessary. Work closely with production to ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Engage with logistics, production, engineering, accounting, and purchasing departments to gather pricing and lead time information for customer orders.
  • Follow up with internal teams to ensure prompt responses to customer inquiries.
  • Proactively manage incoming questions and communications via phone, email, or teleconference, keeping customers informed about quote and order statuses and addressing their needs.
  • Be available for overtime work as required.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a Sales or Customer Service role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with shipping and logistics is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands outlined here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. The employee frequently needs to sit, walk, talk, and hear. Occasionally, the employee may need to climb, balance, stoop, lift, or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision for computer work, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception for driving, and the ability to adjust focus.

This position is not significantly exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Personal Protective Equipment

The following personal protective equipment is required in the manufacturing area:

  • Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higher
  • Steel Toe Safety Shoes meeting OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
  • Hearing protection in accordance with OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
