Key Responsibilities:
1. **Facility Maintenance:**
- Clean and maintain tanks, channels, troughs, and screens.
- Conduct basic maintenance of buildings and grounds, including mowing, trimming, painting, and snow removal.
2. **Operational Support:**
- Gather, prepare, and maintain routine operational and technical records.
- Operate vehicles for snow removal, salt spreading, and material hauling; utilize dump trucks and end loaders for material handling.
3. **Sample Collection:**
- Collect samples from various locations within the city or industrial facilities.
4. **Assistance with Repairs:**
- Aid in mechanical, plumbing, or electrical repairs and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience in the operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities or related manual work.
- Valid Illinois Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL-B) with air brakes endorsement required within a specified timeframe after hiring.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with standard practices and techniques in water treatment operations.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships.
- Capability to follow specific instructions and work collaboratively with others.
Physical Requirements:
The role demands physical endurance, including:
- Regularly lifting and moving items up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Working under various weather conditions.
Residency Requirement:
Employees must reside within a specified radius from the City's Emergency Center within a designated period after hiring.
