About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Avionics Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our electrical design and manufacturing team, you will be responsible for developing and supporting the electrical design, manufacturing, and testing for the New Glenn rocket assembly processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate engineering intent, drawings, and configurations into fully functional hardware ready for test, qualification, and of New Glenn.
  • Identify, develop, and deploy methods to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules.
  • Create, interpret, and modify work instructions and routings to convey procedures to technicians and trigger material planning.
  • Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define the following manufacturing process: fabrication, assembly, test, integration, and refurbishment.
  • Closely manage quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process.
  • Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing.
  • Define and support repair and rework activities.
  • Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions.
  • Design proper material handling and packaging to protect hardware throughout the build and avionics test process.
  • Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree throughout the entire build and avionics test process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 4+ direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).
  • Ability to develop processes compliant to industry quality systems such as AS9100.
  • Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Aerospace/Launch vehicle experience.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: welding, assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non-destructive testing, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, fabrication, machining, etc.
