About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Engineering Geologist to support Geo-Civil projects from our Orange, California office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization.
  • Provide support on the design and installation of ground water wells and geotechnical instrumentation.
  • Provide interpretation of site conditions including: geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data and preparing geotechnical and geologic reports.
  • Develop geologic models for complex geologic site conditions.
  • Conduct geologic research, and develop innovative ways to advance projects with the latest technologies.
  • Perform liaison activities with regulatory agencies on behalf of our clients.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation including reports, project communications, and design drawings and report figures that are of a high professional standard.
Requirements
  • BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education.
  • Valid US Drivers License required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Geology, Engineering Geology or Geological Engineering (Masters preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with complex subsurface investigations including soil and rock core drilling.
  • Installation of piezometers and geotechnical instrumentation.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for domestic and international projects while conducting physically rigorous field geologic data collection in a variety of extreme terrain and weather conditions.
  • Ability to work on multiple project tasks and meet deadlines with aggressive schedules efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and work product quality.
  • Must have excellent communication and writing skills. Written communication skills in the form of geotechnical/geologic data reporting is necessary.
  • GIT Certification.
  • Experience with geotechnical projects including dams, mine tailings dams and water storage dams.
  • Analytical skills and knowledge of geological and geotechnical software (i.e., RocScience, Geo-Slope, gINT, etc.).
