Position Summary

The Circulation Assistant plays a vital role in providing excellent service to library patrons. This position involves managing library card registrations, overseeing the circulation of materials, and contributing to a positive atmosphere for all visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update patron accounts efficiently.
  • Facilitate the circulation process by checking materials in and out, and managing holds.
  • Handle financial transactions at the circulation desk.
  • Perform opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Assist in the selection and maintenance of library materials under supervision.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service at various service points within the library.
  • Execute clerical tasks as per established guidelines.
Work Environment
  • Part-time schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Minimal travel required.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Previous experience in a library setting is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact courteously with patrons and colleagues.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tasks.
  • Basic proficiency in clerical tasks and computer operations.
