Position Overview:

Summary: The Senior Buyer is tasked with collaborating effectively with suppliers, clients, and various departments within The Atlas Group. The core responsibilities include the strategic planning, sourcing, and acquisition of products and services essential for both internal and external production processes. This role also ensures that all client specifications are fulfilled, promptly addressing any arising issues, and may involve collaboration with procurement specialists on strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates MRP requirements and issues purchase orders to suppliers based on established system parameters.
  • Fosters positive relationships with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Prepares Requests for Quotations, assesses supplier responses, and negotiates terms to achieve cost efficiencies, optimal pricing, delivery timelines, and payment conditions in line with The Atlas Group's standards and policies.
  • Coordinates with suppliers and internal teams to ensure alignment of delivery schedules with client requirements.
  • Participates in morning Andon board meetings to relay the current status of purchase orders.
  • Collaborates closely with engineering teams on necessary revisions to purchase order planning.
  • Monitors urgent procurement needs to ensure timely delivery.
  • Attends mandatory meetings equipped with accurate and comprehensive data.
  • Upholds ethical business practices, representing The Atlas Group with integrity.
  • Completes daily tasks efficiently and accurately, including communication via phone and email.
  • Records all pertinent issues and information appropriately.
  • Utilizes problem-solving skills to devise practical solutions for daily challenges.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Maintains inventory levels in accordance with the established ABC policy.
  • Ensures profitability on procured items.
  • Recommends improvements to existing policies and procedures.
  • Commits to working the necessary hours to address all job-related matters effectively.
  • Recognizes that all employees share responsibility for the quality of their work and the implementation of The Atlas Group's quality policy.
  • Ensures compliance with AS9100 guidelines regarding document and digital data control.
  • Possesses the authority to halt any production order due to quality concerns.
  • Delivers professional communication consistently to both internal and external clients and colleagues.
  • Strives to maintain a high standard of professionalism during all company interactions, including meetings and supplier visits.

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or GED is required, along with six to eight years of relevant experience or training; an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable. A Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) is preferred.

  • Demonstrates a solid understanding of supply chain principles.
