Job Title: Deck Engineer Machinist

Join the Military Sealift Command as a Deck Engineer Machinist and embark on a rewarding maritime career. As a civil service mariner, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating deck machinery, underway replenishment machinery, and material handling equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and repair deck machinery, including hydraulic systems, cargo fluid systems, and internal combustion engines.
  • Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and cranes.
  • Assist in the performance of quality assurance on work done by shipyard or shore-side repair personnel.
  • Participate in fire, boat, and damage control drills, and take initiative to perform emergency drills as required.
Requirements:
  • Must be a United States citizen of at least 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a U.S. Passport with a minimum of seven months remaining of expiration date.
  • Must possess and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and/or Department of Defense (DOD) Common Access Card (CAC) with a minimum of ten months remaining of expiration date.
  • Must possess and maintain a United States Coast Guard (USCG) Merchant Mariner's Credential (MMC) with a minimum of ten months remaining of expiration date.
  • Must have at least 6 months of sea experience directly related to a Deck Engineer Machinist, or at least 6 months of work experience in an engineering field.
  • Must possess a STCW Certificate endorsed as Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch (RFPEW).
