Project Estimator

The Project Estimator plays a vital role in the growth and success of JRM Construction Management. This challenging position requires the ability to accurately estimate the total costs associated with a project, working well under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Key Responsibilities- Initiate and manage the entire bid process, including the preparation of detailed bid packages and ensuring accurate submissions from subcontractors.
- Prepare estimates with the proper level of detail for all design stages, from conceptual to construction documents.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and estimate costs of materials, labor, and equipment required for each project.
- Solicit proposals from subcontractors and suppliers, reviewing design documents for accurate pricing and generating value engineering ideas.
- Ensure estimates comply with construction contracts and corporate guidelines, assisting in the creation of logistics plans and translating them to direct project costs.
- Compile detailed award packages for the purchasing team, consulting with architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to discuss estimates and resolve issues.
- Maintain current trends in construction codes and ensure complete bids from subcontractors and material suppliers.
- Attend client and team meetings to discuss estimates, answer questions, and resolve pricing and estimate issues.
- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- Four-year degree and/or at least three years of relevant experience in Estimating, Purchasing, or Quantity Surveying.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, meeting deadlines and demonstrating proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to formulate scope when given minimal direction on design, working autonomously on estimates from start to finish.
- Ability to convey complex estimating data to audiences of varying levels and knowledge of construction.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Procore, and Timberline.
To the extent this position is performed in California, the annual salary range for this role is $85,000 - $130,000. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors, including years of experience, project size capability, and internal company equity.
