Heavy Equipment Service Specialist

Position Summary
We are looking for dedicated Heavy Equipment Service Specialists with diverse skill sets and a strong problem-solving approach. The role involves diagnosing mechanical issues and executing standard repairs on drive-train components, as well as mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems on both company-owned and client heavy machinery in various settings, including workshops and field locations. Adherence to safety protocols and fostering a positive work atmosphere aligned with our Company Values is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in mandatory safety programs and maintain a safe working environment.
- Assess, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical faults on heavy machinery, drawing logical conclusions to determine appropriate repair solutions and sourcing necessary parts.
- Conduct repairs on mobile equipment independently in field conditions.
- Execute welding and brazing tasks, as well as fabricate and modify components and structures as required.
- Repair or replace components in engine hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, suspension systems, drive trains, electrical systems, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systems.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency in relation to customer satisfaction.
- Be available for overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Perform all tasks in compliance with established quality standards and safety regulations.
- Adhere to all relevant DOT requirements.
- Be prepared to travel and work remotely, including overnight stays as necessary.
- Exhibit decisiveness and align with the organization's goals and priorities.
Qualifications
- General understanding of complex hydraulic, electrical, and drive-train systems.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, drive-train, and air conditioning systems.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of equipment operation.
- Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic testing equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical information from hydraulic and electrical schematics.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or GED is the minimum requirement.
- Technical school graduates are preferred.
- Experience with construction equipment is advantageous.
- Experience with paving machinery is a plus.
- Must maintain an acceptable safe driving record.
- Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Certification.
Communication Skills
- Strong written communication skills are necessary for documenting issues, causes, and solutions for completed repairs.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Must effectively communicate with supervisors and clients regarding the causes and resolutions of machine repairs.

While executing the responsibilities of this position, the Heavy Equipment Service Specialist will be required to utilize the necessary tools and equipment for repairs. Essential functions include the ability to sit, stand, walk, read, talk, write, and hear. The incumbent must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds continuously; up to 20 pounds frequently; and 21 – 75 pounds occasionally. Must be able to push and/or pull up to 50 pounds continuously; up to 75 pounds frequently; and additional weights occasionally. This position may involve working in both shop and field environments. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, both hot and cold. Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Certification.
Position Type and Expected Work Hours
This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Normal working days are Monday through Friday, with variable hours.
Overtime may be required occasionally as needed.
