Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Shop Technician to join our team at Sigma Equipment. As a Shop Technician, you will be responsible for the setup, assembly, fabrication, diagnostics, and commissioning of new and used equipment in our inventory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Observe and analyze the functioning of equipment to detect potential hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair, and/or replacement of electrical, electronic components, and mechanical components.
  • Draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units, demonstrating a basic understanding of electronic and electrical schematics.
  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs, exercising mechanical aptitude and ability.
  • Examine machinery parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear, and reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from observation to diagnose equipment problems, applying problem-solving skills and knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Record repairs and maintenance performed in our central database, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and a strong work ethic.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as electronics technology or a related field, or equivalent certification.
  • Basic understanding of AC and DC electrical systems, as well as experience with pneumatics and electricity.
  • Intermediate skill level with mechanical aptitude and ability, including experience working in an industrial environment.
  • Basic level of electrical aptitude and ability, including experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC platforms.
  • Valid Driver's License, with a strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies.
