Position Summary:
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and cleanliness of the College's buildings, creating a safe and welcoming environment. This role involves planning, organizing, and executing custodial operations to uphold the College's high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver maintenance services to ensure the optimal operation and upkeep of the College's facilities.
- Support preventative maintenance efforts for building assets and equipment.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining an adequate inventory of repair supplies and materials.
- Facilitate the relocation of personnel and equipment, preparing spaces for new or enhanced classroom and office setups.
- Help with the organization and cleanup of internal events and special occasions as needed.
- Perform custodial duties such as floor care, waste collection, and disposal in various areas when necessary.
- Conduct drywall repairs and painting tasks within the College's buildings.
- Manage exterior maintenance, including grounds upkeep and snow/ice removal.
- Communicate effectively with all College personnel and stakeholders.
- Carry out additional related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
Education: A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Familiarity with custodial service techniques, equipment handling, and maintenance protocols, along with adherence to safety and OSHA regulations. The role demands physical stamina, including heavy lifting and operating custodial equipment. Flexibility in work schedule may be necessary.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to foster effective teamwork with supervisors, colleagues, students, and the public to fulfill the College's mission. Capability to work independently and manage tasks in a dynamic environment while effectively handling stress from workload and deadlines.
- A proactive and self-driven attitude is essential.
Experience: Previous related experience is preferred.
Background Check: Candidates must successfully pass a background check.
Work Environment:
This position is set within a conventional educational environment. Employees may occasionally encounter cleaning chemicals and associated hazards from industry-specific equipment.
