Job Overview

The Registered/Certified Behavioral Support Specialist is dedicated to delivering educational and behavioral assistance to individuals with special needs. This role involves collaboration with educational professionals and behavioral experts to achieve specific learning and behavioral objectives. The specialist plays a crucial role in implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapeutic interventions.

Position Type: SUBSTITUTE FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR - Opportunities available within the School District

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adheres to directives from the BCBA, educators, and/or program supervisors.
  • Employs behavior management strategies, including prevention, intervention, and consequence methods.
  • Provides crisis management support.
  • Implements and reviews behavior intervention strategies.
  • Follows behavioral goals outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Conducts ABA-specific therapeutic services under the guidance of a BCBA, such as Pivotal Response Training and Discrete Trial Training.
  • Assists in delivering academic instruction as directed by teaching staff.
  • Supports the development plans of Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Physical Therapists (PT).
  • Documents sessions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Accurately collects, interprets, and reports behavioral and academic data.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Facilitates the development of independent living skills in students through daily self-care activities.
  • Provides support to students in various environments, including classrooms, playgrounds, and sensory rooms.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification and/or State Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) license as required by state regulations.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Preferred: Two years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred: One year of experience working with pediatric populations.
  • Preferred: Associate's degree in behavioral studies or a related field.
  • Must adhere to all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • Health certificate as required by state regulations.
  • Must comply with all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations is essential.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively share information with supervisors, colleagues, and clients; proficiency in English is required.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is necessary.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
