The Operations Manager plays a pivotal role, reporting directly to the General Manager, and is tasked with actualizing the company’s vision through effective daily management of restaurant operations. This position is crucial in ensuring that staff are well-prepared to uphold our brand standards, guaranteeing that every guest enjoys a memorable and engaging experience. Collaborating closely with the General Manager and Executive Chef, the Operations Manager will help shape the operational strategy and growth plans, focusing on sales enhancement and cost management. This role includes direct oversight of a specific team, encompassing all aspects of hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of skilled personnel for both Operations and Culinary teams.
  • Conduct and document employee performance evaluations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Identify and nurture key talent for career advancement and promotion opportunities.
  • Achieve proficiency in all roles within both front and back of house operations.
  • Organize and facilitate quarterly staff meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and sanitation regulations as mandated by local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Drive company objectives by taking ownership of new initiatives and exploring avenues for enhancing job performance.
  • Communicate maintenance needs to the General Manager or appropriate service personnel.
  • Become adept in utilizing all restaurant technology and software systems.

Daily Venue Oversight

  • Supervise and guide staff daily with fairness and respect.
  • Support the Assistant General Manager in training and developing the management team in alignment with The Madera Group's culture and operational standards.
  • Address and document individual performance issues in accordance with standard operating procedures, including disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Authorize complimentary services and adjustments for all service staff.
  • Complete all administrative tasks as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Report and assist in resolving maintenance issues promptly.

Brand Integrity

  • Ensure that service standards are consistently upheld with a focus on hospitality, ensuring all guests receive the utmost respect from all departments.
  • Guarantee that all food and beverage offerings are presented consistently and with integrity.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative service standards, menu items, and guest relations strategies.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the venue to maintain brand standards and ensure it is in optimal condition.
  • Address and resolve guest complaints in a timely manner, aligning responses with brand values.

Marketing and Business Growth

  • Support the planning and execution of business development strategies.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of digital marketing initiatives.
  • Identify key events, promotions, and annual programming for the venue.
  • Foster and maintain business relationships with neighboring establishments.
  • Ensure staff effectively promote the business through appropriate channels.
  • Oversee promotional activities, ensuring seamless coordination and management to drive revenue while controlling costs.

Inventory and Labor Oversight

  • Establish and maintain effective inventory management systems.
  • Manage labor costs, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints.
  • Implement anti-theft measures for all inventory supplies.
  • Complete monthly inventory reports accurately and punctually.
  • Conduct labor cost analysis and oversight.

Financial Management

  • Collaborate with the finance team to produce accurate financial forecasts and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Monitor profit and loss statements, identifying areas of concern and ensuring margin maintenance.
  • Implement anti-theft measures for financial transactions.
  • Ensure proper tracking of cash and petty cash procedures.
  • Oversee credit card transactions to ensure accuracy.
  • Manage chargebacks effectively.
  • Conduct financial audits as directed by the Director of Operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of management experience, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparation, health regulations, and liquor laws.
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Passion for hospitality and commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
  • Proven ability to cultivate positive working relationships across teams.
  • Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Availability for on-call shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
