Job Title: Director of Internal Audit

Join the University of Montana team as a Director of Internal Audit, responsible for leading the institution's Internal Audit function and serving as a core team member for the Enterprise Risk Management program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a risk-based audit plan to ensure the University's financial, operational, and compliance risks are effectively managed.
  • Manage a team of auditors to conduct audits, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations for corrective action.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of audit activities.
  • Provide consulting services on State and University policies, as well as State/Federal laws and regulations.
  • Investigate allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse of State resources.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, management information systems, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in internal audit, with a proven track record of managing integrated audits and identifying key risks and controls.
  • Demonstrated experience with the IIA's International Professional Practices Framework.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to understand the University's strategy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in accounting, management information systems, business analytics, or a related field.
  • Experience in higher education.
