Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate inpatient admissions, including expediting responses to referral inquiries and verifying benefits
  • Obtain necessary authorizations and ensure compliance with discharge plans
  • Analyze clinical, financial, and socio-demographic information to direct referrals to appropriate levels of care
  • Communicate necessary information to Patient Financial Services, care teams, and care managers
  • Consistently demonstrate support of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab's statement of Vision, Mission, and Core Values
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, social work, healthcare administration, or related field
  • One to two years of previous experience in healthcare financial clearance, preferably in patient admission, registration procedures, benefits, and financial clearance procedures
  • Strong customer service skills and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of personnel, physicians, insurance representatives, and referrers
  • Analytical skills necessary to ensure referrals, financial clearance, and admissions are managed in compliance with standards
