Electrical Engineer for the Jupiter Laser Facility

Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The successful candidate will provide control system and power conditioning solutions in support of the Jupiter Laser Facility (JLF).

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, assemble, calibrate, and test electrical and control systems for the JLF.
  • Prepare supporting safety and engineering documentation and participate in engineering design reviews.
  • Interface with other organizations internal and external to the Laboratory to complete various LLNL projects.
  • Participate in engineering testing operations, analyze results, and write reports.
  • Respond to failures of laser electrical and electronic equipment and develop and oversee troubleshooting plans to return the system to operation with minimal oversight.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or closely related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering concepts related to design, assembly, calibration, and testing of analog and digital electrical systems.
  • Broad experience with sensor integration, calibration, and signal analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work under limited direction and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering (MSEE) or related field.
  • Experience in High Voltage Pulse Power Systems and Controls.
  • Experience with Laser Systems and their associated hardware and controls.
