Job Overview:

Houston Methodist is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to join our dynamic team in Emergency Services, Nights. As a PCA, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and contributing to a positive work environment.

About the Role:

This is a full-time position that requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of one of the following: PCA externship, PCA internal internship, six months of direct patient care experience, or enrollment in a school of nursing program with a completed first clinical rotation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, including assistance with daily living activities and maintenance of patient safety.
  • Conduct hourly rounding to ensure patient needs are met and record data established by policy and procedure.
  • Collaborate with the interprofessional healthcare team to improve patient outcomes and contribute to a positive patient experience.
  • Participate in shared governance activities and identify opportunities for performance improvement projects.

Requirements:

  • BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA) certification
  • CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant - State Licensure (for Skilled Nursing Facility/SNF/Rehab departments only)
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary to perform essential job functions
