Key Responsibilities
The Float Receptionist will travel to various clinics, including those in rural areas and the metropolitan region, to provide essential coverage for physician offices. This role presents an excellent opportunity to gain insights from diverse job functions across different medical teams.
As a Float Receptionist, your duties will include:
- Filling in for front office roles as needed, such as Operator, Scheduler, Check-in, Check-out, Clinic Receptionist, Medical Secretary, and Medical Records, adhering to established front office protocols.
- Welcoming patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
- Screening visitors and vendors, directing them to the appropriate personnel.
- Checking in patients, verifying insurance details, and updating necessary demographic information.
- Confirming billing information and existing balances.
- Managing a multi-line telephone system, efficiently screening calls and routing them to the correct personnel.
- Taking messages related to patient and pharmacy inquiries, particularly prescription refill requests, and forwarding them to the relevant staff.
- Scheduling patient appointments for physician visits and diagnostic tests using the Cerner system, in accordance with office scheduling guidelines.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area and lobby.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience:
Preferred: One year of experience in a medical front office setting; familiarity with multi-phone systems; knowledge of medical terminology.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to develop and maintain quality assurance within the department.
- Proficient in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Capability to uphold quality control standards.
- Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
