Department Overview:
The General Surgery unit consists of 44 beds dedicated to post-operative care, assisting patients during their recovery until they are ready for discharge. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, implementing care plans, managing TPN, PCA, tube feeds, ostomy care, biliary drains, urinary catheters, IV antibiotics, wound care, wound vacs, central line management, JP drains, NG tubes, and pain management through both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership that enhances the delivery of professional nursing care focused on patient comfort and wellbeing.
- Utilize the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document patient care and education for patients and their families.
- Implement medically prescribed interventions effectively.
Qualifications:
- Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enrollment in a BSN or advanced degree program with a commitment to obtain a BSN within five years of hire. Exemptions may apply for RNs with ten or more years of experience.
- Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Required Licensure/Certifications: Current licensure as a registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply. Certification: BLS Healthcare Provider.
- Preferred Licensure/Certifications: National Certification in the area of specialty.
- Required Experience: Minimum of one year of nursing experience.
- This position requires full vaccination for COVID-19 in accordance with local, state, and/or federal regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
