Surgical First Assistant RN

The RN First Assistant plays a vital role in the surgical team, providing expert care and support to patients undergoing surgery.
About the Role:
- Assists the surgeon in preparing the patient for surgery, ensuring a safe and efficient peri-operative environment.
- Provides hemostatic techniques and assists with skin closure, subcutaneous closure, and other surgical procedures.
- Functions as a Registered Nurse, circulating cases and participating in patient transport and room turnover.
- Serves as an educator, mentor, and resource to patients and colleagues.
Requirements:
- Graduation from a surgical first assistant program required.
- Valid RN License from Virginia or reciprocal compact state required.
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification required.
- AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
- BSN preferred; all Registered Nurses with an Associate's Degree in Nursing will be required to obtain their BSN within five years of hire.
- Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) certification preferred.
