Role Overview: The Revenue Cycle Specialist is essential in overseeing the financial processes, ensuring precise billing and prompt reimbursement. This role is vital for maintaining the organization's financial stability through efficient claims management, effective communication, and problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing, reviewing, and submitting claims using billing software (both electronic and paper formats).
  • Collaborating with various departments to rectify information discrepancies (e.g., policy numbers, authorization numbers, diagnosis codes).
  • Verifying service code rates for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurance providers.
  • Reviewing accounts for follow-up with insurance or patients.
  • Addressing inquiries from patients or insurance companies regarding assigned accounts.
  • Ensuring patient bills are accurate and complete, gathering any missing information.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks as required.
  • Providing support to team members and other departments as necessary.
  • Completing all assigned duties and tasks as directed by leadership.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma is required.
  • An associate's degree in business administration, accounting, or healthcare administration is preferred.
  • Understanding of insurance guidelines, including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer systems.
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficient in using computer systems, software, and 10-key calculators.
  • Strong communication skills for resolving issues with insurance payers.
  • Customer service abilities for engaging with patients regarding claims and payments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and manage conflicts.
  • Problem-solving skills to investigate and resolve discrepancies, denials, appeals, and collections.
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping practices.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to medical claims.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Capability to multitask effectively.
