Job Summary:

As a Precision Measurement Specialist, you will play a critical role in the execution and oversight of calibration tasks, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in our measurement systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all calibration activities, both internal and external, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct routine calibrations on photonic and fiber optic testing instruments for both internal operations and external clients.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with non-functional instruments, collaborating with customer service to establish pricing, repair timelines, and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Develop, document, and implement calibration procedures for various types of equipment and instrumentation.
  • Maintain and monitor calibration schedules, ensuring timely execution and documentation of all calibration activities.
  • Administer the calibration database, tracking due dates, performing calibrations, and generating necessary documentation such as certificates and reports.
  • Coordinate with external calibration vendors for instruments that require specialized calibration services.
  • Assess and evaluate calibration vendors based on their qualifications and performance metrics.
  • Participate in audits conducted by external organizations, representing the calibration department and validating calibration methodologies.
  • Facilitate inter and intra-laboratory proficiency testing to ensure consistent quality across operations.
  • Collaborate with technical management to set goals for enhancing internal calibration capabilities and achieving ISO/IEC-17025:2005 scope approval.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a calibration technician role.
  • Formal education in Metrology, ideally an associate's degree in a relevant technical field.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, including ISO-17025, ISO-9001, and MIL-STD-790.
  • Experience in calibrating various types of equipment, including:
    • Electrical instrumentation
    • Physical dimensional measurement
    • RF calibration
  • Proficiency in standard business software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, CRM systems).
  • Strong organizational skills, with a focus on record-keeping and database management.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Commitment to continuous learning in instrument calibration methods and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Attention to detail and a conscientious approach to quality assurance.
  • Experience with fiber optic measurements and troubleshooting electrical circuits.
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical problem-solving skills.
