Job Summary:

As an Emergency Department Communication Specialist at UPMC, you will play a vital role in ensuring seamless communication between patients, families, and healthcare teams. Your exceptional customer service skills and ability to multitask will make you an asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information, ensuring timely and effective communication with healthcare teams.
  • Coordinate patient transfers and transports, ensuring safe and efficient movement within the department.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and families, addressing their concerns and needs in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to process enhancements.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a Paramedic Program or equivalent experience.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting, Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI Clearance required.
