Job Summary

The Certified Teaching Assistant will function as the primary assistant to the classroom teacher, providing support and guidance to students in a preschool classroom environment. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality education and care to our students, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Impart agency philosophy of 'Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential' to children, families, program staff and community resources.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy.
  • Function as the primary assistant to the classroom teacher, ensuring a meaningful educational experience.
  • Implement each child's educational, therapeutic, and behavioral plans under the supervision of the teacher and team.
  • Supervise children and ensure safety.
  • Work with individual students or groups of students on instructional projects to achieve individualized goals for each child.
  • Provide the teacher and team with information about students, which will assist in the development of appropriate learning experiences for students.
  • Assist in the development of instructional/classroom materials.
  • Assist the classroom teacher in related instructional work as required.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and the orderly appearance of classroom equipment, supplies and displays of children's work.
  • Attend all meetings as required and appropriate, as determined by the classroom teacher and Program Director.
  • Assist children with behavioral/management needs.
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, department meetings and in-service training as needed or recommended to enhance job skills and personal growth and development.
  • Adhere to agency's policies and procedures as well as department guidelines.
Requirements
  • High school diploma.
  • One year experience in an early childhood education setting.
  • NYS certification as a Teaching Assistant.
  • Knowledge of classroom management preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance.

Work Environment

This job operates in a preschool classroom environment. This role uses standard office equipment.
