Job Summary

The Certified Teaching Assistant will function as the primary assistant to the classroom teacher, ensuring a meaningful educational experience for children. In the teacher's absence, the Teaching Assistant will take on a leadership role in the classroom.

Responsibilities
  1. Impart agency philosophy to children, families, program staff and community resources.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families.
  3. Function as the primary assistant to the classroom teacher.
  4. Implement each child's educational, therapeutic, and behavioral plans under the supervision of the teacher and team.
  5. Supervise children and ensure safety.
  6. Work with individual students or groups of students on instructional projects.
  7. Provide the teacher and team with information about students.
  8. Assist in the development of instructional/classroom materials.
  9. Assist the classroom teacher in related instructional work.
  10. Maintain classroom cleanliness and the orderly appearance of classroom equipment, supplies and displays of children's work.
  11. Attend all meetings as required and appropriate.
  12. Assist children with behavioral/management needs.
  13. Participate in conferences, workshops, department meetings and in-service training as needed.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma.
  2. One year experience in an early childhood education setting.
  3. NYS certification as a Teaching Assistant.
  4. Knowledge of classroom management preferred.
  5. Demonstrated commitment to performing job duties and tasks at a high level of performance.
Work Environment

This job operates in a preschool classroom environment. The employee will use standard office equipment and may be required to work at any of our partner agencies.
