JOB SUMMARY:
  • Prepare the surgical environment by ensuring all necessary equipment is ready and functional.
  • Support the surgical team during procedures by anticipating their needs, managing specimen collection, and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Facilitate efficient room turnover by organizing and restocking supplies and instruments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Pre-operative Duties:
  • Assist in the setup of the operating room.
  • Confirm the operational status of all equipment prior to surgical procedures.
  • Organize and prepare cases methodically.
Intra-operative Duties:
  • Maintain strict sterile protocols throughout surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate and respond to the needs of the surgical team.
  • Independently handle specialized tasks as required.
  • Ensure precise documentation and collection of specimens.
Post-operative Duties:
  • Assist with the turnover of the surgical room.
  • Properly manage the decontamination of instruments.
  • Return all supplies and equipment to their designated locations.
  • Conduct checks and restock procedural areas at the end of each shift.
  • Perform additional relevant tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior clinical experience in patient care is preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical or Cardiovascular Technician Program is advantageous.
CERTIFICATIONS:
  • BLS certification is mandatory.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Strong understanding of clinical standards and best practices.
  • Familiarity with age-specific patient care requirements.
COLLABORATION:

Internal:
  • Work closely with various departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.
External:
  • Engage with patients and their families to provide support and information.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must maintain good physical health.
  • Role involves walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and transporting patients.
  • Requires stamina for extended periods of standing and walking.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and motor skills are essential.
  • Effective communication skills are necessary for interactions with patients and staff.
  • Sharp near vision is required for monitoring and gauge readings.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Operate in a well-lit and ventilated facility.
  • High exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Handle hazardous materials during sterilization processes.
  • Work irregular hours covering various shifts.
