Job Summary

The Patient Navigator plays a vital role in the smooth operation of our dynamic outpatient wound care center. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills to manage front office functions and provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with Center leadership to optimize daily patient census and ensure seamless operations.
  • Participate in staff meetings to support key functions within the Center and foster a collaborative team environment.
  • Provide exceptional patient service, including greeting patients, answering calls, and routing them to the appropriate staff member.
  • Maintain accurate patient communication records, including scheduling, rescheduling, and appointment reminders.
  • Verify patient insurance information, obtain pre-certifications and pre-authorizations, and enter data into relevant databases.
  • Collect and enter patient charges, reconcile charges as directed, and prepare monthly patient survey data.
  • Assemble new patient charts, maintain and file existing patient charts, and ensure data completeness and signatures.
  • Coordinate and schedule ancillary testing with other hospital departments and arrange for patient transportation as needed.
  • Maintain office equipment and supplies, as well as medical supplies, and perform other duties as required.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED); Associate's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of Two (2) or more years of office administration experience, preferably in a medical setting; prior medical coding experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent customer, interpersonal, and communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to type 60 words per minute (wpm).
  • Basic math skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and in a team environment.
