About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Finance Manager, Planning & Forecasting - Pricing to join our team at American Express. As a key member of our Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) Pricing team, you will play a critical role in driving revenue and profit growth through customer-centric pricing principles, flexible pricing architecture, and innovative pricing solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for forecasting and reporting of merchant discount rate, providing a unique opportunity to have an impact across multiple businesses and segments. You will balance the organization's goal for profitable charge volume and merchant expansion, essential to the strength of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform in-depth analysis of key Discount Rate drivers to assess sensitivity of various business practices and trends.
  2. Develop and implement a roadmap for process standardization and improvements for all reporting and forecasting related activities.
  3. Support the creation of Merchant Discount Rate forecasts and track monthly performance against forecast by identifying drivers of variance.
  4. Build a comprehensive Discount Rate data repository globally to understand past performance and inform future pricing strategies.
  5. Support external audits by researching identified issues, partnering with regional business teams, and working through to resolution.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 4+ years of experience in financial services, payments industry, or other finance-related roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business; MBA or Graduate degree is a plus.
  • High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • SQL and/or SAS data querying skills.
  • Success in quantitative data analysis methods and data mining.
  • Strong strategic thinking and ability to translate trends and analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
