About the Role

Tetra Tech is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Scientist/Engineer to join our team as a Project Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of office and field tasks, including site investigations, field sampling, and related work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site visits and field sampling, including storm water sampling, visual observations, and compliance inspections.
  • Prepare and collaborate on environmental compliance reports, sampling plans, and technical documents.
  • Develop solutions using technical scientific principles, theories, and existing technologies.
  • Collect, enter, and interpret data by conducting analyses to compare findings to relevant studies and regulations.
  • Develop and design control measures for storm water and erosion and sediment control compliance.
  • Interact with clients, facility personnel, and project staff to provide technical support and guidance.
  • Coordinate and manage meetings and training sessions.
  • Work as part of a team under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline, such as geology, environmental science, or engineering.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience with Oil Pollution Act (OPA) and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit compliance, RCRA profiling, and management.
  • Experience developing and implementing Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software and other common business applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and independently when necessary.
  • Attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to interface with clients, subcontractors, and internal customers.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Able to conduct field work, tolerate variable environmental conditions, and lift and carry at least 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Certifications in storm water management, green infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, and flood plain management.
  • Experience with writing technical government memorandums and reports, managing project teams, and gathering field data.
