Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team as a Program Coordinator in Behavioral Medicine. The successful candidate will be responsible for training and supervising medicine residents in providing psychological counseling to patients, coordinating the behavioral medicine educational program in the family medicine residency, and providing individual and family psychotherapy to Family Medicine patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide residents with teaching in family-oriented comprehensive care and human behavior, as specified in the special requirements for Residency Training in Family Medicine.
  • Coordinate the Behavioral Science Seminars and Family Medicine Conference.
  • Develop and supervise the residents' ambulatory behavioral health experiences.
  • Supervise and train residents to provide family, couples, and individual counseling.
  • Provide psychosocial precepting for the Family Medicine Residency Program to ensure utilization of principles derived from psychological and family systems theory.
  • Oversee the care delivered by family medicine residents to ensure it adequately addresses patients' psychological problems.
  • Assess residents' personal development to promote resident well-being and address issues of impairment when they arise.
  • Assist in developing individual learning plans for residents.
  • Supervise the videotape review of resident-patient encounters.
  • Interview, recommend, and recruit residency candidates.
  • Provide family, couple, and individual psychotherapy to patients being seen by family medicine residents and faculty.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in a social science field.
  • Experience and skill in the treatment of adults, children, couples, and group therapy.
  • Experience working with the medical model and the impact of physical and psychological illness on individuals and families.
  • Experience assessing community needs.
  • Experience providing faculty development in family systems medicine for Family Medicine teaching faculty.
  • Preferred: 5 years working as a psychotherapist and 5 years experience working as a graduate medical educator, preferably training family physicians.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Clinical Psychologist.
Working Conditions

This position requires excellent interpersonal skills and a high tolerance for stress. The ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance is required. Patient handling equipment is expected to be used with at least one other associate when available.
