Job Summary

Lead 6-week Preschool Clinics for basketball, soccer, and baseball, supervising youth league practices and games.


Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Recreation Coordinator to design and implement age-appropriate clinic lesson plans.
  • Coach 6-week preschool clinics for basketball, soccer, and baseball during designated seasons.
  • Maintain a fun, safe, and educational clinic environment.
  • Emphasize skills development, including safety, fair play, and sportsmanship.
  • Manage sports equipment and supervise weekly youth sports practices at Oak Park Elementary Schools and City of Oak Park fields.
  • Supervise weekly youth games during each sport season, including facilities in the Quad City Youth Sports League.
  • Handle emergency situations efficiently and report them to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties related to the department's day-to-day operation.

Requirements
  • Knowledge of basketball, soccer, and baseball rules and skills.
  • Physical ability to perform duties assigned.
  • Initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving.
  • Effective communication with volunteer coaches and parents.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience working with preschool-aged children required.
  • Previous experience as a youth basketball coach preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR certification and a valid Michigan Driver's License.

Working Conditions
  • Passion for working with children ages 3-5 years old.
  • Availability for all assigned dates.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to lift equipment of at least twenty-five pounds.
  • Pass a background check and complete Safe Sport Training.

This is a temporary part-time position with an hourly minimum rate of $18.00.
