Job Description

Linamar Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Materials Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the physical custody and accuracy of inventory records for consumables and maintenance items in all locations under Tool Crib's control.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in the facility's geographic location and industry standards.
  • Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar's Core Values and Leadership Behaviors.
  • Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar's Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
  • Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
  • Maintain department 5S requirements.
  • Serve as a support for purchasing and resolving problems with products, quantities, or possible pricing in conjunction with the Materials Manager.
  • Establish and maintain procedures in order to control FIFOs.
  • Inventory control per Linamar's accounting manuals and corporate cycle count programs.
  • Maintaining computerized inventory control system in conjunction with manual systems.
  • Monitor daily duties of the Tool Crib Attendants and Tool Pre-setter.
  • Ensure the receiving process is being executed daily.
  • Support during the coordination in the logistics to send items for repair, regrind, etc.
  • When applicable, create part numbers in IFS and/or perform modifications as needed.
  • Coordinate the labeling and bar coding to all items under Tool Crib control.
  • Coordinate Hob tracker and broach tracker to avoid material shortages and reduce supply risks.
  • Support inventory management strategies, including the reduction or use of slow moving/provisioned items.

  • Associate's Degree
Desired Characteristics:
  • Must have experience in purchasing and production planning/inventory control.
  • Plan work processes and schedules to ensure full use of all equipment and workers from project conceptualization through materials acquisition, production, and quality control inspections to meet customers' specified timelines.
  • Discuss daily operations with co-workers. Discuss material properties and other technical matters with material handlers, engineers, manufacturers' representatives, and other specialists.
  • Participate as a team member with other management staff to resolve production problems.
  • Ability to use basic computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Use computer-operated machinery. For example, print delivery slips using computerized printers.
  • Learn through initiatives and interactions with co-workers, colleagues at other shops, suppliers, and customers. Attend manufacturers' sponsored training on new equipment and materials.
Working Conditions:
  • Required PPE includes steel toe shoes, safety glasses with side shields, and ear plugs as needed.
  • The employee may push, pull, lift, carry and/or move items up to 20 pounds without accommodation.
  • While performing the responsibilities, the employee is required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard for prolonged periods of time.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work in a well-ventilated environment with adequate lighting and temperature. Occasionally exposed to a hot environment up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Occasionally exposed to outside temperatures.
  • Occasionally required to handle chemicals and/or sharp objects (e.g., disinfectant, box cutter).
  • The employee will be occasionally exposed to outside temperatures.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
